i would give him some food outside the cage then put it in his cage slowly so he can see where it is!! also, try putting it in a parrot bowl so he can eat it, maybe its his beak! or call the vet for advice! best wishes

only put the water and food bowl inside of the cage… dont give him the option of eating outside of it. I feed my congo grey 3x a day. she usually eats what I do. (eggs and fruit in the morning with some whole wheat toast, veggies and some fruit for lunch, and pastas veggies and meats at night. i keep a small amount of seed for her to snack on through the day and a few cheesesticks as well. google macaw feeding and see what you get for that specific species

Start by giving him food outside the cage n gradually inside. The best time 4 them 2 eat is in the mornings. Try 2 b “happy” around him/her since they can sense negative energies around them. A happy person is a happy bird !
Talk 2 him/her in a very soft tone of voice n pet him/her when necessary.
    Good luck my friend !!!
    PS: Don’t ever tell him/her: “Polly wants a cracker?”…lol…j/k

Your bird will eat and drink when it gets hungry or thirsty enough. All you can do is set the rules yourself, leave the food where you want him to eat it and leave it alone, he will take care of himself take my word for it. He won’t let himself starve to death.

Parrots are social animals and social eaters. They love to eat when others are eating. Perhaps your macaw likes to be around his flock when he eats. That much said, he will eventually eat wherever you want him to eat because he will get hungry and thirsty. Continue to offer the food inside of the cage, you can try sitting next to the cage and encourage him to eat. You said it’s only his second day, it takes time (sometimes months) for a parrot to get used to his new home. He will become more comfortable soon.

Give him a chance to adjust to his new surroundings. He will eat if he is made to stay in the cage. He won’t let himself starve. My birds also prefer to eat when they are out of the cage. They go in, get something out of the bowl and bring it outside the cage to eat. Back and forth. Let him in his cage for a few days, he needs to get used to it and if you let him out all the time right now, you may have a problem with him.Do not put his bowls outside so he can eat. This is the start of a very bad habit that can cause problem. Keep his food and water bowl in the cage. He has to learn the rules. Put some fresh veggies or fruit in another bowl in his cage, this may help. You can give veggies or fruit anytime. If you give him fruit every day, it may make his droppings look runnier than usual. It does not hurt any thing, and it is not actually diarrhea. But don’t give him fruit more than once a day. Please read my profile.
